Slight earthquake jars north of Israel, Jordan
Residents of northern Israel were hit by a small earthquake on Tuesday evening, the latest in a series of earthquakes to hit the region over the past month.
The Geological Survey of the Israel Seismological Department said the quake registered 3.5 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was 15 kilometers (9.5 miles) northeast of Beit She’an, in the Jordanian border town of Al-Shouna North.
There were no reports of injuries or damage.
Police said they received dozens of calls in the aftermath of the quake, and Hebrew media quoted some Israelis as saying they felt the furniture shook.
According to the Army’s Home Front Command, the early warning system was not activated because the earthquake did not pose a danger.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center said that in addition to Israel, it had also received reports of the earthquake from users in Jordan and the Palestinian Territories.
The earthquake came just over a week after the Home Front Command conducted large earthquake exercises across the country, following a series of smaller earthquakes that were felt in the country.
On January 11, an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit the western coast of Cyprus and was felt by residents of neighboring Israel, Lebanon and Turkey.
Less than two weeks later, two small earthquakes shook northern Israel within hours, causing the evacuation of a school in Afula and the Beit She’an City Council.
And in early February, Israel felt another earthquake off the coast of Cyprus, in what the Cyprus Geological Survey said was a follow-up to the major earthquake that occurred off the eastern Mediterranean island on January 11.
No injuries or major damage were reported in the earthquakes, but the unusual amount of earthquakes recently felt in parts of the country has led some residents to believe a larger earthquake is on the way.
Israel lies along an active fault line: the Syrian-African Fault, a crack in the Earth’s crust that runs along the border separating Israel and Jordan. Major earthquakes in the region occur on average once every 80 years, although the most recent occurred more than a century ago.
Geological experts recently warned that about a million homes in Israel are at risk of collapsing in the event of an earthquake.
According to other estimates, a major earthquake could cause about 7,000 deaths, 145,000 injuries, the displacement of 170,000 people and the destruction of 320,000 buildings.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
