Roger Goodell: The NFL should listen to players concerns about racism
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league had to listen to concerns about racism in order for NFL players to condemn racism in the league and help its black players.
Goodell posted a video on NFL social media in response to the “Stronger Together” video. Many black NFL players are demanding a strong stance on the League in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
“We have the National Football League, we condemn racism and the systematic oppression of black people,” Goodell said. “We, the National Football League, have admitted that we are wrong not to listen to NFL players before and encourage everyone to talk and protest in peace,” Goodell said.
In any case, Goodell did not mention Colin Kaepernick’s former San Francisco 49ers quarterback for kneeling in a league setback and others before the game while the national anthem protested against police brutality.
