The Friendly Moose: It’s a bicycle net, not a furious bump Sports and outdoors
Moose has reached maturity. After several years of working with the improvement of new lanes and signs on adjacent lanes and streets, Anchorage Parks and allied groups such as Public Gardens and the Entertainment Division are promoting the Moss bicycle network at the city level.
Check out the photo: Our bike base grille looks like a banana, at least the head and shoulders.
For many years, the urban green belt system in Anchorage was contradictory: expansive, confusing and Balkan. No standardized signs helped the rider connect Chester Creek and Campbell Creek track systems through the confusing UMed / UAA / APU complex. No signs ever assisted cyclists to connect the Kincaid Park, at the southern station of the Coastal Corridor, to the logical connection of the Campbell Creek track near Dimond. Fish Creek Road was rugged and lacked signs for the broader network, mainly across the coastal lane (although the South Station in Fish Creek is not really far from Campbell Creek Trail as well).
Michael Francisco Conti
The lack of path integration and road creation represented a missed opportunity to improve the quality of life, which affects the economic competitiveness of our society. One area can excel in Anchorage compared to other cities which is the ease and convenience of bike commuting, and the proximity of almost all city neighborhoods to wide road systems. Compared to most other traffic-congested urban areas, we have much more access to fun bike transfers and outdoor entertainment. These facilities became more valuable during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Certainly, to take full advantage of the potential economic benefits of our tracks and parks, both the state and the city will need to renew road bike infrastructure. The small steps have improved slightly comfort and safety, but Anchorage is decades behind other Western cities, and still generally has an ancient and dangerous road network that focuses myopia on cars. It is positive that the city and the Anchorage Parks Corporation have improved the signs and are marketing the lanes connection – the infrastructure on the road should continue to improve if it is safe to reach these lanes.
When you look at the “The Moose” network, think of some destinations along the way. If you lived in Turnagain, did you ride a bike on the coast and dine out in the 49th city center? If you live in the city center or along Chester Creek, have you made a trip to a rustic goat? If you want to fish, go to the Chester Creek section that flows through Sitka Street Park to catch trout. Or hunt any number of Campbell Creek divisions. If you have kids, go to the stunning playground in Fish Creek, or take your kids on a bike ride to Lake Goose and then go swimming. If you like mountain biking, use the “The Moose” paved paths to reach a wonderful solo path (summer and winter) in APU, Far North Bicentennial, along Chester Creek, and in Earthquake Park.
Once you start going out and riding, it will become clear that many of your common destinations are faster, easier or at least more fun to reach by bike than car. We live in South Addition, so it’s a very short trip to visit friends in Turnagain, but it’s an equally short and fun bike trip, just to give one example. And with the kids, I’m getting more mountain bike training because I can go home to home in an hour and hit an amazing solo track in Earthquake Park. My daughter loves to ride her bike to dig in the sand on Lake Goose, and play on the beach in Lynn Erie.
Our house is located in The Moose Room, and we use lanes almost every day. Whether you live close to the eyeballs or stomach, it is also a great net for your family.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
