Our guest on this show is Millet Keeler, Lisa’s father. Pat and Millet Keeler arrived in Anchorage in 1963 from Palo Alto, California. They have stayed for 30 years and in the process have instilled a great love for Alaska and the outdoors for Lisa and her brother. Along the way, both were part of important moments in Alaskan history. In the first episode of this two-part series, you’ll hear about Millett’s early life in Montana, his experience in the 1964 earthquake, and his partnership with John Brown, the former CEO of BP. Together, they developed an important model of the North Slope Oilfield Reservoir.

Eric Burke, or you can call him “Bourke” because everyone else does, is the Director of FM Operations at KSKA-FM. Oversees the daily operations of FM broadcasts. He produces and edits episodes of Outdoor Explorer, an Alaska-focused outdoor program. It also keeps web posts for this view. You may have heard him filling the Morning Edition or hosting all things considered and you can still find him playing the soundboard of any of the live broadcasts. After escaping from the Detroit area when he was eighteen, Burke arrived in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he earned a degree in communications/radio broadcasting from Northern Michigan University. He spent time running a college radio station, worked for a local NPR affiliate, and then on top 40 radio in Michigan before coming to Alaska to work his first few summers. After moving to Chicago, it only took five years to convince him to return to Alaska in 2010. When he’s not on great radio shows, he’s probably riding a bike, thinking about cycling, dreaming about bikes, reading a book, or planning the next place. to whom he will travel.
