Adar Poonawala, CEO of Serum Institute of India revealed that the price of a preventive Covishield dose in private hospitals was reduced by more than half a day before the booster doses became accessible to all Indian adults.

The price of a single drug has been reduced from 600 rupees to 225 rupees. After negotiations with the center, a decision was made. Poonawala also praised the government for making a third dose option available to all adults, which was previously only available to individuals over the age of 60 and frontline healthcare professionals.

More than 2.4 crores of prophylactic doses have already been delivered to healthcare workers, frontline workers, as well as individuals over 60 years of age in India.

Poonawala praised the center’s decision to open the booster doses on Friday, describing it as a decisive and swift measure.

He claimed that those who wanted to travel abroad but did not have a third dose faced a problem because many countries placed restrictions on foreign travelers who did not have a booster dose.

Poonawala was alluding to several EU countries requiring foreign travelers to take booster doses for Covid-19.

Imran Khan calls for nationwide protests in Pakistan on April 10

Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for large-scale rallies to avoid a vote on a crucial no-confidence motion against his administration. Imran Khan asked Pakistanis to take to the streets after Sunday prayers and demonstrate “peacefully” in a televised address on Friday.

Imran Khan asked young people to take to the streets in his address, urging them to do so after his statewide rally in 2018.

“All of you should go out on Sunday after evening prayers to protest and peaceful protest. I say again that you should never indulge in violence. It must be a peaceful protest,” Imran Khan said.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine
