Walk the Talk returns to the Place des Nations this year
The Walk the Talk event returns on Sunday, May 22, 2022, in Geneva, Switzerland, on the morning of the 75th.th World Health Assembly. The WHO joins the UN family and the Geneva community to celebrate the importance of healthy lifestyles and demonstrate measures for the safe conduct of public events.
The third edition of Walk the Take: The Health for All Challenge, and the first since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, is an opportunity to safely gather and promote solidarity and a healthy lifestyle.
There is no “zero risk” when it comes to any gathering – especially events that bring together groups of people. Regardless of the magnitude of the event, we are in danger of COVID-19 whenever we meet people.
Security measures will be taken for this event, including the following measures:
- Proper congestion management including safe distancing – use of physical barriers (cones, ropes, poles, etc.) to maintain distance between people, separation of approaches and exits, adoption of one-way roads and corridors to implement one-way flow, establishment of spacious waiting rooms to complement congestion control.
- Adequate ventilation of the space, either naturally or mechanically (ie by supplying air to the interior or by removing air from the interior by means of air movement components)
- Ensuring the availability of hand washing facilities with water and soap dispensers and / or hand sanitizers
- Availability of closed bins for safe disposal of water bottles and other items
- Make public health available and securely measure messages on the website and on site for future participants
- Train volunteers and inform them about what is expected of them, especially if they will be required to actively spread health messages or implement any PHSM
Participants are also advised to adhere to the following health protocols:
- If you do not feel well, show any symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 or a positive COVID-19 test, stay home.
- Get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it’s your turn.
- If you choose to attend a public event, always follow the precautions, regardless of your COVID-19 vaccination status or history of previous infection.
- Keep at least 1 meter away from others at all times.
- Wear a well-fitting mask that covers the nose and mouth when a physical distance of at least 1 meter is not possible and indoors with poor ventilation.
- Don’t take off your mask to speak.
- Avoid places with crowds or poor ventilation
- When coughing and sneezing – cover with a bent elbow or handkerchief.
- Always clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand wash or wash them with soap and water
