Kundasang earthquake: Mt Kinabalu felt earthquakes
Ranau: The tremors caused by the 3.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Kundasang City at 9.28 am on Tuesday (April 26) were felt not only by residents of the area, but also by climbers on Mount Kinabalu.
Mountain guide Gwyneth Mossen, 29, said he and a group of climbers were descending from the top of the mountain when they felt the tremors for a few seconds.

Fortunately, he said, the earthquake was weak and was not followed by falling rocks.
“Yes, I was coming down from the summit with several climbers and we felt tremors, but there were no falling rocks,” he said when contacted by WhatsApp on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the head of the Kinabalu Park’s Panabalan sub-station, Jolimin Kamen, said the situation at Sayat-Sayat Checkpoint and the Panabalan complex in Mount Kinabalu was under full control after the earthquake.
“There are 104 climbers scheduled to climb the mountain today and another 110 did so yesterday,” he said.

Nordiana Zahidi, a seller of goods with the package, said she was in her store when she felt the tremors, which only lasted a few seconds.
“It was so fast,” she said. “I was shocked but not panicked because everything was fine.”
According to the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson, no distress calls were received from the villagers in the aftermath of the quake.
“Yes, we felt the earthquake here, but no emergency calls were received. However, we advise residents and villagers to be vigilant and take precautionary measures for their safety,” he added.
It was reported earlier that a weak earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale occurred in Kundasang, Sabah, at 9.28 am on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (Met Malaysia), the earthquake was detected 14 kilometers northwest of Ranau, Sabah, at a depth of 10 kilometers. – program
