Mumbai Wuhan has reached the summit of India Covid cases – BBC News

India’s financial capital, Mumbai, Covid has recorded 51,000 cases, surpassing the summit in Wuhan, where the first virus originated.

The news is half of the rise in infections in India, which has confirmed 266,598 cases.

The state of Maharashtra, which is the capital of Mumbai, has 90,000,000.

Infections are also plaguing the capital Delhi, with authorities saying they expect to see more than half a million cases by the end of July.

The incident came as a result of a decision to calm India’s restrictions after three months of a sharp blockade that sought to prevent the virus from spreading.

On June 8, the reopening of shopping malls, places of worship and offices was allowed. Prior to that, shops, markets and transportation services also had to be allowed.
