An earthquake in the town of Aguilas, Murcia woke up its residents with the mayor of Aguilas saying it felt like an explosion.

On the morning of Friday, April 29, a 3.8-magnitude earthquake “like an explosion” shook the town of Aguilas, in Murcia, at 7.15 a.m. IGN, 20minutos reported.

In comments made by the mayor of Aguilas, Marie Carmen Moreno, on Onda Regional de Murcia reported by Europa Press, the mayor stated that the tremor was an “explosion”, while asserting that “there were no major accidents”.

The earthquake was recorded at the edge of the municipality at a depth of seven kilometers near the town of Bolby in Almeria. Emergency services received dozens of calls from the municipalities of guilas, Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras to report the earthquake, and according to the Emergency Coordination Center, in Águilas Carlos V School students were evacuated from inside classrooms.
