Yes, Garth Brooks caused Saturday’s earthquake in Baton Rouge

When country music icon Garth Brooks comes to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, everyone attends!

The crowd selling the unofficial number of 127,000 certainly wasn’t disappointed on Garth’s first trip to Baton Rouge in decades.

In fact, WAFB reported that Death Valley was actually the epicenter of a small earthquake caused by the ecstatic crowd there on Saturday.

In an article from WAFB, we learned that at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, when Garth performed Louisiana’s favorite, “Callin’ Baton Rouge,” a seismometer located in the Nicholson Building on the LSU campus recorded a small earthquake.

Of course, this isn’t my first time in Death Valley. These small seismic events have occurred many times in the past at key times for big football matches, but from what I remember, this may be the first time an event has been recorded during a music event at the venue.
