Garth Brooks fans cause earthquake during LSU concert

Country artist Garth Brooks and his fans virtually rocked the world Saturday night as his performance of “Callin’ Baton Rouge” caused an earthquake inside Tiger Stadium at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

LSU’s chief brand officer, Cody Warsham, tweeted that Patricia Persaud, a professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics, had set up her seismometer before the concert. The noise was recorded as an earthquake for the first time since October 1988.

The Washington Times has reached out to LSU for comment.

Tiger Stadium has a capacity of 102,000 people, according to the university.

Callin’ Baton Rouge was initially recorded by The Oakridge Boys in 1978, according to Spotify. Mr. Brooks released his version of the song in 1993.

Brooks’ delivery was the first time in 24 years that the unofficial state anthem was part of his repertoire at a Baton Rouge show, Whiskey Reeve said.

The Country Music Hall of Fame member couldn’t hide his happiness after the performance.
