The British Geological Survey confirmed the Corby earthquake

The British Geological Survey (BGS) confirmed the Corby earthquake today (Friday). The force of the event measured 2.3 on the Richter scale, it reported today.

The earthquake was recorded at 10.31 am. Residents in Ondel, Corby, and Weldon reported that they were aware of this, with one saying it was “moderate shaking and a moderate roaring sound”.

Northamptonshire Police said they had not received any calls related to the earthquake. He does not believe that anyone was injured.

BGS tweeted: “At this time we have received one report that this event was perceptible. It came from one resident of Little Oakley, who described ‘moderate shaking and a moderate growling sound’.”

On Twitter, Witchmummawitchmumma said: “I was in Northampton didn’t feel it, but all the lights at work waned on and off for about two minutes.”
