The first quake occurred early Monday morning as many Midlands residents “shaken” around 1:32 AM after the impact measured a magnitude of 3.3.

According to the South Carolina Department of Emergency Management (SCEMD), the second earthquake of magnitude 1.6 was recorded 8 kilometers southeast of Elgin at 4:39 a.m. kilometers east-southeast of Elgin.
