Yellowstone earthquake this morning

Jackson, Wu. – A 4.2-magnitude earthquake was reported in Yellowstone National Park, near Silver Gate, Montana, around 7:30 a.m. today.

The USGS reported the earthquake, about 91 miles northeast of Jackson.

At Jackson Hole, the earthquake was recorded with a maximum estimated equipment intensity (MMI) of between two and three, depending on the location. Earthquakes of this classification produce little vibration and no damage.

Teton County Emergency Management shared news of the earthquake on its Facebook page this morning and is asking members of the community who have felt the earthquake to provide a “concrete report.”
