5.5-magnitude earthquake in Lima: there were landslides and road closures

An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale and of an unusually long duration rocked the Peruvian province of Lima on Thursday, though no personal or material damage was reported, the Institute of Geophysics of Peru (IGP) reported.

The earthquake was recorded at 4:55 pm local time (11:55 pm GMT) and originated at a depth of 49 kilometers, with its epicenter 30 kilometers west of Chilca, a town located in the province of Canete, within the province of Lima. , about 60 kilometers from the Peruvian capital.

The Costa Verde, a bypass road whose design runs parallel to the sea in Lima, has suffered landslides from the valleys that guard it, causing a definite closure on that highway.
