A hero who helped Nepal earthquake victims during their Mount Everest expedition has been honored in a historic climb.
Former Knutsford firefighter Steve Buckley and his loyal dog Brian carried out the Mercy Mission in 2015.
The two were part of an international search and rescue team that assisted survivors in remote villages around Kathmandu.
“When the call we needed came, there was no time to lose,” said Steve, of Mobberley.
“Bryn and I jumped on a plane and were sent to Nepal.
“Even with the earthquake devastation everywhere, the Nepalese were some of the most wonderful people you can imagine and can’t do enough for you.
“We did what we could, and Brian, who was an amazing dog, worked tirelessly to assist in the effort.”

Steve was hiking in the Himalayas with his wife Sylvia and friends from Kentsford when the villagers surprised him with a thank-you gift.
This climb came to mark the 100th anniversary of the first expedition of George Mallory, born in Moberley, to Mount Everest in 1922.

Everest climbers had just finished an evening meal at The Himalaya Lodge, at an altitude of 4,200 metres, in the village of Pheriche in the Khumbu Valley.
“Our Devendra trekking guide came by and explained that he wanted to thank me for helping me in Nepal,” Steve said.
“I was completely surprised.
“Then more people kept coming in with traditional silk scarves and it was very stressful.
“In the end I must have had eight scarves around my neck. It was another reminder of how generous the Nepalese people are.
“We were just doing a job and Brin, well, he was a special dog.”

Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
