Magnitude 2.2 earthquake recorded in Wolfboro, New Hampshire

Wolfboro, NH – Did you feel it? A small earthquake shook New Hampshire east of Lake Winnipesaukee around midnight.

The epicenter of the 2.2-magnitude earthquake was in Wolfeboro, according to the US Geological Survey, which has received about 30 reports from people who felt the quake.

A resident of Wolfeborough was one of many who noticed the disturbance.

“My wife and I were soundly asleep and heard a noise. It sounded like a rumble, it was like a tree fell in the woods or on the roof of a house,” Peter Galanis told WBZ-TV. “The next morning, one of my neighbors sent me a picture of a map indicating the earthquake.”

The US Geological Survey says earthquakes of this size rarely cause damage.
