State Governor Jay Inselee describes the Yakima Valley as the “center” of the current COVID-19 outbreak in the state

Yakima County has a population of 250,000, but it has recorded more than 5,700 COVID-19 cases, the second highest in the state after the Greater King County.

The governor of Jay Inseley state, at a press conference on Tuesday, said that residents of Yakima County that had been invaded by coronaviruses must do more to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

“The valley now, unfortunately, is the epicenter of this earthquake for this virus,” said the governor of Inseley.

“The hospitalization rate in Yakima Valley per capita is 8 times higher than in King County,” he said. “The incidence rate for the number of injured per 100,000 people is 28 times higher than in King County in the past few days.”

The governor of Inseley described the virus as an “earthquake” that was devastating the economy of Yakima.

A big reason why there are so many cases in the valley is that many people refuse to wear masks. Inslee cited the last result saying that only about 35% of Yakima County residents would wear masks when sponsoring a work.
