Carlos Sainz likens driving Monaco in 2022 to an ‘earthquake’

Carlos Sainz likened the ride on the rims of Monaco behind the wheel of a 2022 Formula 1 car to an “earthquake”.

“And then the ride, the bumps, the hurdles seems like a challenge for everyone.”

So how does Sainz describe the experience of these bumps and obstacle rides?

“It kind of feels like a roller coaster, a little bit like an earthquake that happens all the time in the car,” he said.

“But getting used to that, the vision, the way of attacking every corner with all the bumps, you’ve said you see some new challenges, and I’m enjoying them but at the same time, you have to keep an eye on everything.”

When asked if there’s anything that can be done with the car to make this easier to manage, or if it’s all about driving style, Sainz said: “Well, obviously we’re making setup compromises, but to ease the cars into this year, you’re paying for In downforce too.
