Early morning earthquake reporting in San Diego

If you thought you could feel the Earth moving in the early hours of Friday morning (June 3), you don’t fancy it. A low-scale earthquake has been reported by several people across San Diego, according to NBC San Diego.

The USGS recorded that the epicenter of the 3.6-magnitude earthquake was approximately four miles south-southwest of Warner Springs, with many in San Diego feeling the impact around 3:40 a.m. The earthquake was reported at a depth of 10.9 kilometers, or about 6.7 miles.

According to the USGS “Did you feel it?” Tool, several residents reported feeling weak in the light shaking from National City to Palm Springs and Berrego Springs, the news outlet reported. No injuries or damages were reported as a result of the quake.

San Diego wasn’t the only city in California that was shaken by an earthquake early in the morning. The USGS also recorded a 2.5-magnitude earthquake in El Segundo in Los Angeles County around 5 a.m. at a depth of 11.3 kilometers, or about seven miles. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

Both quakes follow Thursday’s slightly stronger quake in the Gulf region, which was initially reported as a 4.1-magnitude quake.
