Earthquakes signs 15-year-old Venom Cruz Medina for a domestic deal 05/06/2022

Cruz Medina, one of four San Jose Earthquakes academy players in the US Under-17 rookie team, signed a local player contract with the Quakes during the 2026 season with the club’s option for 2027.

Medina, who trained with Bayern Munich, won the Ballon d’Or as the best player in the upcoming 2021 U-15 MLS Cup.

Banenca was the difference when the United States beat hosts Portugal, 2-1, at the UEFA Development Championship in May. San Jose teammates Oscar Verhoeven and Fidel Barajas also started winning. Another COEX midfielder, Edwin Mendoza, was a regular with the Under-17 team.
