Angeles City joins earthquake training

Duck, cover and hold.

That was the message from City Executive Assistant Rena Manuel during a recent simultaneous earthquake drill.

Manuel stressed the importance of disaster preparedness.

“We must always be prepared,” she said. “We must always prioritize our safety. In times of earthquake, remember this exercise – duck, cover, hold.”

Manuel added that this is the purpose of the National Second Quarter Online Synchronous Earthquake Training (NSED), which she participated in.

According to her, the NSED is a good time to test the efficiency and usefulness of preparedness, response and recovery plans and to understand the command and control mechanism of emergency and disaster operations.

“I encourage the public to remain vigilant about earthquake related advertisements and educate oneself through informational materials on how to protect yourself during earthquakes,” Manuel said.
