Earthquake hits Georgia in the early hours

A 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck Stillmore, Georgia, USA.

Tremors can also be felt in areas near Augusta, Macon, and Brunswick after the 4 a.m. tremor, according to the USGS.

There were reports of moderate shaking near the epicenter, east of Emmanuel County, a city of 700 people. However there are no reports of any damages.

Earthquakes of this size are rare in Georgia.

There have only been 10 earthquakes of magnitude 3.5 or greater since 1903. The most powerful earthquakes recorded in the state were of magnitude 4.5 in 1914.
