An earthquake was felt in Dubai after a 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit Iran

People in Dubai reported that they felt tremors on Saturday morning after an earthquake hit southern Iran.

One downtown Dubai resident said their bookshelves started shaking after 7:30am, while another said their furniture started moving.

The National Center of Meteorology confirmed that a 6.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded in southern Iran at 7:37 am UAE time.

In a statement carried by the official Emirates News Agency (WAM), the Emirates News Agency said that the earthquake “was slightly felt by the residents, but without affecting the Emirates.”

Dozens have taken to social media to describe the feeling of tremors across Dubai, from Jumeirah Beach Residence to Jumeirah.

Minor tremors are often recorded in the United Arab Emirates as a result of earthquakes in Iran.

The NCM also recorded a 4.3-magnitude earthquake on Friday at around 6:30 pm in Iran, but it was not thought to have been felt in the United Arab Emirates.
