Dubai sends humanitarian aid to Afghanistan after the deadly earthquake

Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has sent emergency relief flights to transport life-saving humanitarian aid to Kabul to help hundreds of thousands of people in areas devastated by the deadly earthquake in Afghanistan last week.

Last Wednesday’s 5.9-magnitude quake was the worst affected in the impoverished eastern province of Paktika, killing more than a thousand people and leaving tens of thousands homeless.

The official Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that a cargo flight left on Tuesday from Dubai to Kabul, carrying 24.5 metric tons of essential drugs, medical materials and cholera kits provided by the World Health Organization from its warehouses in the International Humanitarian City in Dubai. Wednesday.

The facilitation and transfer of aid comes in response to the urgent humanitarian needs of the landlocked South Asian nation in the wake of the earthquake, amid fears of a cholera outbreak alongside the already dire humanitarian situation in the country.
