Thousands of leaked files have revealed how Uber courted top politicians, and how far it has come to avoid justice. The documents were leaked to the Guardian and shared with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and various media outlets including BBC Panorama. They show how a 90-year-old lobbying and public relations effort hired friendly politicians at undeclared meetings to help campaign for the disruption of the European taxi industry. The company denies that its lobby was secret and ministers say the rules were followed. He also ordered the former boss of the taxi company to personally use a “kill switch” to prevent police from accessing computers.
