A plastic carrier bag has become a symbol for problems caused by plastic pollution.

But according to the family of the man he created, Sten Gustaf Thulin, he believed his design should help the planet and would be amazed and see what it became.

The Thulin family doesn't have the money to sell the bags.

BBC Environment Reporter Laura Foster explains what happened and why paper and cotton bags can be worse for the environment than recycled plastics.
