The recent earthquake hit a different area of Columbia
Another earthquake hit the Midlands on Tuesday morning, but the most recent seismic activity occurred in a different area of the District of Columbia than in the area where most previous earthquakes have occurred.
The South Carolina Department of Emergency Management said a 1.6-magnitude earthquake was confirmed in the Boykin area at 1:59 a.m. While still in Kershaw County, it is about 21 miles east of Elgin and 17 miles from Lugoff, where most recent earthquakes have been reported.

Why increase earthquakes?
