Meteorite likely to cause ‘boom’ to rock Salt Lake Valley

Salt Lake City – People all over the Salt Lake Valley heard and felt a big “boom” on Saturday morning. The intensity of the noise led many to believe it was an earthquake of some kind. It has since been confirmed that the cause of the “boom” was a meteorite.

We’ve had several reports of people feeling or hearing a “bang” ~8:32 AM. We can confirm that it was not an earthquake.

With the claims of people who experienced noise from Lehi to Capitol Hill, this caused a lot of people to be confused. Some have speculated that the noise may have come from the Air Force base.

I heard a loud “boom” throughout the valley. We don’t know why, but we’re checking with the military. Please do not overwhelm the sending.

Governor Spencer Cox spoke about “prosperity” on Twitter.

A video clip of a meteor meteor was captured in the sky. The National Weather Service confirmed that the meteor was the cause of the noise. A “boom” allegedly rocked northern Utah just a minute after this video was recorded.

The meteor is still a best guess as to what caused the “boom”. The public is still waiting for an official confirmation from the agency.
