A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit the ground in Uttar Pradesh on the night of Saturday and Friday. The tremors occurred 139 km northeast of Lucknow at around 1.12 am.

The National Center for Seismology said the quake was 82 km underground.

The epicenter of the earthquake was near Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, near the Indo-Nepal border. While no damage was reported, earth-shaking images were seen in CCTV footage from Lakhimpur Kheri.

Mild tremors were felt earlier on Friday in Pithuragarh district of Uttarakhand, which was hit by a 3.6-magnitude earthquake. The tremors occurred at 12:55 pm

CS tweeted, “Mass 3.6 earthquake, Happened on 19-08-2022, 12:55:55 GMT, Latitude: 29.96 & Long: 80.12, Depth: 5 km, Location: 43 km northwest of Pitoragarh, Uttarakhand .”

Another 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck south-southwest of Hanley village in Jammu and Kashmir, according to the NCS.
