Coyle scores, Earthquakes beat Los Angeles FC – Keon 546

SAN JOSE, CA (Associated Press) – Coyle’s goal was a pivotal goal for the San Jose Earthquakes in their 2-1 win over Los Angeles FC on Saturday.

Coyle’s winner came in the 77th minute to put the earthquakes (6-11-9) ahead 2-1. Tommy Thompson had a goal assist. Coyle, 18, in his fourth season in MLS, scored for the second time this season and first since April 2 in a 2-2 draw with Austin.

Seismic also scored one goal from Benjamin Kikanovic.

Kwadwo Opoko scored for LAFC (18-5-3).

LAFC outperformed Earthquakes 12-10, with one shot on target to San Jose’s five.

JT Marcinkowski saved one of his two Earthquakes hits. Maxime Crepeau saved three of the five shots he faced for LAFC.

The Earthquakes are on the road on Saturday against Sporting Kansas City, while LAFC visits Austin on Friday.
