Jammu and Kashmir earthquake: Two earthquakes struck Katra in Jammu and Kashmir last night, within an hour, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said on Wednesday. The first earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale hit around 11:04 pm, and sometime after that another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 on the Richter scale hit Katra at 11:52 pm. The depth of both earthquakes was 5 km underground. No casualties or property losses were reported due to the quake.

“Another earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale occurred 60 km east of Katra, Jammu and Kashmir at approximately 11:52 pm on August 24. The depth of the earthquake was 5 km underground,” NCS wrote on Twitter. “An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale occurred 62 km from Katra, Jammu and Kashmir at approximately 11:04 pm today. The depth of the earthquake was 5 km underground,” NCS wrote on Twitter earlier.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) also reported a 3.4-magnitude earthquake in Kolhapur in Maharashtra on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

The earthquake occurred at 12:04 pm on Thursday. The depth of the earthquake was 5 kilometers underground. “Earthquake magnitude: 3.4, occurred on 08-25-2022, 00:05:22 IST, latitude: 16.80 and long: 75.85, depth: 5 km, location: 171 km east of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India,” the NCS tweeted.

Meanwhile, as many as six earthquakes hit different parts of Jammu and Kashmir in less than 24 hours, i.e. from the early hours of Tuesday until late at night.
