Highlights

• Humanitarian response efforts continue in the wake of the 5.9-magnitude earthquake in the southeast region on 22 June. To date, about 376,000 people have been reached through at least one form of assistance, including 124,000 people through food and agricultural support; 93,000 with emergency shelter and non-food items (NFIs); 66000 with protection; and 90,000 with Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA). Another 313,000 people received comprehensive WASH assistance – soap and chlorine tablets – as part of preventive measures to prevent the spread of acute watery diarrhea (AWD); In addition, 152,000 medical consultations were provided.

• Joint Needs Assessment Teams (JATs) assessed 197,000 people (over 29,000 households) in 184 villages across five districts – Barmal and Giyan in Paktika Province, Shamal, Spera and Tani in Khost Province. In total, about 100,000 people (14,000 families) were identified as needing humanitarian assistance.

• Of the 14,052 homes identified as requiring emergency shelter assistance, 53 percent of homes were confirmed destroyed, 46 percent severely damaged, and 1 percent moderately damaged. At the time of the assessment, more than 40 percent of the affected households were found to live in open spaces or temporary settlements, with 98 percent of the affected households reporting loss, damage, or damage to household items. Furthermore, 58 percent of assessed households reported not having enough water, and 95 percent reporting open defecation. Clear signs of acute malnutrition among community members were also observed in half of the villages assessed.

• Following feedback from affected communities in Ziruk and Neka districts in Paktika district and Wazza Zadran district in Paktia, assessments are now launched following delays caused by recent floods.

• To date, 40 percent of the $110 million financial requirement for the three-month emergency response plan has been committed or received. This figure reflects the initial estimated number of people living in highly affected areas, and the “no regrets” approach taken in the initial phase of the response. As the response moves into the next phase of implementation, partners will move from providing immediate relief (provided to all people in earthquake-affected areas) to priority, but more costly, interventions, such as earthquake-sensitive shelter repairs.

• All earthquake-affected areas were considered in the 2022 winter prioritization process, with all areas not including Thani categorized as high priority in intersectoral prioritization, as well as for most cluster-specific priorities.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
