BEIJING (AFP) – The death toll from a major earthquake in western China has risen to 93, as the search for survivors continues, authorities said.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Sichuan Province last week, and most of the devastation was concentrated in the province’s Ganzi Tibet Autonomous Region.
Rescuers said another 25 people were still missing as of Sunday evening, according to state broadcaster CCTV. The search for survivors and the recovery of bodies has been complicated by heavy rains and the risk of landslides that have forced some residents to move to temporary shelters.
The earthquake also affected Chengdu, the provincial capital, where residents were under strict control against the spread of the coronavirus, meaning they were not allowed to leave their buildings. Online footage showed residents banging on the iron gates in front of the apartment complexes as they tried to leave their buildings.
Tens of millions are still under China’s overall control to prevent the spread of the Corona virus. The local government of Chengdu announced that a few areas with no new COVID19 cases will be allowed to reopen on Monday. However, much of its 21 million residents remains under lockdown. The city reported 143 cases of the coronavirus on Monday, more than half of whom were asymptomatic.
China has stuck to its massive system of lockdowns and mass testing even as the rest of the world eases restrictions. The country’s approach has curbed deaths, but has kept millions of people confined to their homes for weeks or even months at a time.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
