Strong earthquake strikes southeast Taiwan

A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit southeast Taiwan on Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

The Taiwan Meteorological Bureau said the quake was 7.3 km deep, and its epicenter was in Taitung County, a sparsely populated area of ​​the island.

Taitung County Commissioner April Yao wrote on her Facebook page that the quake was “extremely strong,” while the official Central News Agency showed a photo of the bottles discarded from their shelves in a Taitung store.
