Adolescent treatment from Immer Green Charlie Ilsley in Mexico “Going well” as the family continues to raise funds

His mother said that the treatment of a teenager who traveled to Mexico for life-saving medical care has been “going well” so far, but his mother has had a “terrifying” experience since her arrival.

Charlie Ilsley, 13, traveled from Emer Green to Mexico, accompanied by his mother, Tony, and Mark’s father, on Wednesday, June 17 for immunotherapy.

Charlie’s treatment began on June 22 and he spoke last week (Wednesday, June 24) and Tony said he was “going well so far.”

The doctor treating Charlie suggested that he have another medication in addition to the current treatment that Tony said would “block the main course of Charlie’s cancer” and “prevent him from growing or returning.”

To pay for the treatment, the family needs to raise another £ 2,000, thus continuing to collect donations.

“We need him to give him the best chance,” said Tony.

“We all want to thank everyone who shared his story and donated to his box because he wouldn’t be here without their help and kindness,” she added.

Since arriving in Mexico, the family has visited the pyramids, which Tony described as “amazing” and said that Charlie “loved seeing them.”

However, an earthquake struck southern Mexico and affected the area where the family resided.

Tony said the experience was “terrifying”.

She said: “I just got back from a little walk and heard the beep sound.

“We thought it was a fire alarm – we looked from the hotel door and a lot of other people were just looking up so we thought it couldn’t be much.

“Then the floor started moving under your feet and Charlie shouted that his bed was moving, all the lights were swaying and then I realized what it was, so we tried to get out.”

She explained that they were staying on the sixth floor and had to leave the building by going down an outside stairway, describing the experience as “very frightening.”

She added that Charlie is “good in itself” but he did not like the earthquake.
