A 7.6-magnitude earthquake in Mexico on Monday killed at least 10 people and damaged more than 200 buildings, and a 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck western Mexico.

A major earthquake that killed two people in Mexico on Monday destroyed more than 200 buildings and injured 10, Laura Velasquez, head of Mexico’s Civil Protection Agency, said on Tuesday.

The 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck western Mexico, with most of the damage concentrated in the states of Colima and Michoacan.

The earthquake struck western Mexico on the anniversary of two devastating earthquakes in 1985 and 2017.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was at a depth of 15 km and occurred near Michoacan’s border with the state of Colima near the west coast.

After the earthquake, the US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning for parts of the coast of Mexico where waves reached 3 to 9 feet.
