Canadian indie pop icons Alvvays are just days away from dropping their third LP, Blue Rev. To keep expectations high, the group released one final single from the album, “After the Earthquake” that is full of energy and energy.

If you are one of those people who hate spoilers in every aspect of life, then you should just jump in a paragraph or two. If you’re someone who doesn’t like your music spoiling, I think you’re a bit weird, but I respect you. If you’re someone who doesn’t want to spoil your Canadian Indie Pop albums a few days before the album comes out, I’m not sure you’re really there, but more power to you.

If any of those apply to you, look now: Alvays’ new album is good. Actually, really good. In a crowded field of albums released this week that also include Sorry, Bjork, King Gizard, Wizard’s Lizards, and Orilis, Alvays is my personal pick for album of the week. I’m not actually responsible for that kind of thing, but I’m sure when you guys hear the album, you’ll understand why I keep this album.

After the Earthquake is sure to remind old fans of classic pop songs from the band’s past like Atop a Cake and Saved By a Waif. With the ever-rising rankings that sees singer Molly Rankin go even crazier at the moment, After Earthquake continues to build and build before abruptly stopping around the two-minute mark. This doesn’t last very long, as the major change brings a wonderfully intense final boost to the final section of the song.

After a string of great songs that included ‘Pharmacist’, ‘Very Online Guy’ and ‘Belinda Says’, the Alvvays are ready to reclaim their crown as the world’s best indie pop titans. It took most of their contemporaries in the 2000s to catch up, and now it’s time for the crowning.
