“Regional coverage of seismographs has grown from five in 1969 to more than 300 today,” Meggs said.

While the oldest USGS seismic records for Oregon date from the late 19th century, these records may not represent the complete list of regional earthquakes that occurred during this period of recorded history. However, the USGS’s earthquake catalog provides interesting insight into the state of Oregon and the seismic history of the Willamette Valley.
