Tensions rise as Russian men flee to Georgia – BBC Newsnight

As a result of the partial mobilization of Russian President Vladimir Putin, tens of thousands of men have fled Russia to Georgia. According to estimates, 10,000 men a day made the trip at one point. Those who have made the journey have spent days waiting in line to cross the border, all to avoid fighting on the Ukrainian battlefield. But does the entry cause unrest among local Georgians? With a troubled history leading up to the 2008 Russian-Georgian war, some politicians are calling on the government to end the open-door policy that allows Russians to stay in Georgia without a visa for a year.
