Post Courier Three earthquake victims of the Tira family are buried in Wau

Three alluvial gold miners suffocated after being buried underground following an earthquake in Morop County last month in the city of Wau on Saturday.

Family members and friends attended in numbers to pay respects during the funeral service at the family home in the Morobi compound.

The three victims are members of the Tira family, older brother Molex, younger brother Jack and daughter Gracilene, who were searching for gold along Kuranga Creek when the earthquake struck the area and were buried alive by the avalanche on 9/11.

Their bodies were recovered and taken to Anjao Memorial Hospital.

Reverend Yappi Robert held a funeral service at the Renaissance Lutheran Church, enlightening family members to allow God to take center space in their lives for his divine protection.

The Reverend Robert said, “There is judgment after death and we must all make up our minds to follow Christ to avoid God’s judgment.”

He pays tribute to the late Jack and his daughter Greslin, who traveled to Beowin and escorted him to Wau to take up his post as new pastor five months ago.
