Two earthquakes rocked New England this weekend

East Territory, RE – (WPRI) While most of New England is experiencing record temperatures, some parts of the region have experienced earthquakes.

People have felt two earthquakes in three different states in the past two days.

Sunday morning at 4:23 a.m. ET, a 2.3-magnitude earthquake struck Laconia, New Hampshire. People felt this earthquake only locally around Laconia.

On Saturday afternoon, there was an earthquake off the coast of Nantucket. The 2.1-magnitude earthquake struck at 2:53 p.m. EDT.

The earthquake off Nantucket was felt in both Fall River and New Bedford according to the US Geological Survey’s Have You Felt It web page. The feeling of it was as far away as Vermont. There were no reports of damage as a result of the two earthquakes.
