The tremors of the earthquake were felt twice on Tuesday evening in several areas including Delhi NCR to the capital city of Uttar Pradesh Lucknow, Kanpur, Muradabad, Bareilly, Agra and Meerut. For the first time, people felt a slight earthquake at 8.52pm. Its intensity is measured at 4.9 on the Richter scale. After that, the earth shook a second time at 1.57 pm. This time the tremors felt more powerful. Its severity was measured at 6.3. The beds and other things started shaking in the houses. People left their homes in panic.

The epicenter of the first earthquake was reported at a depth of 10 km underground in the Darchola district on the Indo-Nepal border. At the same time, the center is being told for the second time in Kolkheti in Nepal itself. No damage was reported due to the quake. Earlier on the night of August 19, earthquakes were felt in Lachmau and the surrounding areas, with a magnitude of 5.2.

The quake tremor was felt twice in many districts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday evening with an interval of about five hours. The second time, the ground continued to shake for about 20 seconds. However, no damage was reported from anywhere. According to the National Center for Seismology, a 4.9-magnitude earthquake occurred around 8.52 a.m., with its epicenter in Nepal’s Dharchola district. The depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometers underground. Then the earthquake struck for the second time at 1:57 pm. Its severity was measured at 6.3.

According to Prabhas Pandey, former Additional General Manager and seismologist at the Geological Survey of India, there is no possibility of much damage at this intensity from the earthquake. In the Dharchula region of Nepal, there have been earthquakes many times before. In 1916, the strength of the earthquake was recorded here at seven on the Richter scale, which caused a lot of damage. More than 200 homes were damaged. It was the largest earthquake ever in the area. Earthquakes are frequent in this region.

In 1916, Darchula experienced an earthquake of magnitude 7.5. Although there is not much evidence for this, it was the most powerful earthquake on the Indo-Nepal border to date. More than 200 people died there. Apart from this, this region is also the epicenter of the earthquake which measured six on the Richter scale in 1980. There are very few settlements in this region. Because of this, there is not much damage due to the earthquake effect.

According to Prabhas Pandey, there is no possibility of significant damage in the Tuesday night earthquake. People can feel a tremor because of its severity. There may be cracks in the homes around the focal point, but no loss of life or property is expected.
