The earthquakes were felt by Delhi and its neighboring countries at around 8 pm today, which prompted many to leave their homes and offices, in the second such earthquake felt in the region. The epicenter was again in Nepal, while its magnitude was 5.4, the National Seismology Center reported.

The Nepal Earthquake Monitor said the epicenter was around Patadiwal in Pajhang district and the exact time was 8.12 pm local time, i.e. 7.57 pm in India. “This is the fifth earthquake in Nepal in the past three days, with a magnitude of 4 or more,” the authority said.

This was less than the intensity of the earthquake felt in Delhi and other parts of northern India earlier this week. The depth was again 10 kilometers below the surface of the earth.

Earthquakes were reported today from Noida and Gurugram, along with other areas in Haryana and Ub, Uttarakhand and Punjab. People interacted instantly on Twitter and other social media platforms, with many memes also shared.

Earlier, on Tuesday evening, strong tremors were felt in Delhi around 2am after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake in Nepal. That quake was about 10 kilometers deep, according to the National Center for Seismology. Six people were killed and eight injured in Nepal. The epicenter was in the Dottie region, about 70 km from where the epicenter of today’s earthquake was.
