Meanwhile, strong tremors were felt in parts of northern India, including in Delhi-NCR, on Saturday evening when a 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, about 101 km east-southeast of Pithuragarh in Uttarakhand, officials said. .

The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center of Nepal said the quake’s epicenter was Patadipal in Baghang, 460 km west of Kathmandu.

Panicked people rushed out of their homes as the quake struck at 7:57 pm, three days after a 6.3-magnitude quake struck Nepal and left six people dead in the neighboring country.

This is the third earthquake to hit seismically active Nepal in a week.

The quake was also felt in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and some areas of western Uttar Pradesh such as Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli.
