- Find innovative solutions for a sufficient return on investment in new antibiotics, while ensuring their application. This could include different compensation and procurement models to facilitate the placing of urgently needed antibiotics on the market.
These efforts must be strong and sustained to stabilize and revitalize the broken antibiotic development pipeline and market. As the threat of antibiotic resistance continues to grow, new antibiotics are urgently needed – now more than ever before.
WHO Advocates shaping public health priorities for research and development in the fight against antimicrobial resistance and will continue to review preclinical and clinical antibacterial pipeline on an annual basis as well as spreading to fungal pathogens of public importance.
Charities Pew monitors the global antibiotic pipeline to shed light on the status of antibiotic development, assess and advocate for public policies, and bring together researchers to encourage the discovery of new drugs.
