Magnitude 5.3 West Texas earthquake: The third largest earthquake in the state shakes San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas – One of the largest earthquakes in Texas history has rocked the west of the state.

On Wednesday, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake sent seismic waves about 350 miles, causing San Antonio College to cancel classes.

A video in Pecos, where they report feeling a 5.4-magnitude earthquake, shows a home tremor.

One man said he felt dizzy before realizing his building was swaying.

“I was in the Zoom meeting, which started at 3:30 p.m., I was only in the meeting for two or three minutes when my chair rocked back and forth,” Russell Gero of San Antonio College told KENS. “I heard from another employee; they were on the seventh floor, two floors above us, that they actually saw the furniture moving.”

Officials say the entire campus has been evacuated in order to take precautionary measures.

“At first, I thought everyone was overreacting,” Michaela Salins, a senior at the college, told KENS.

That was until word started spreading, and she spoke with her teacher.

“(The teacher is) a trainer, and she just reported that she got dizzy. And then all the TVs and monitors went off and said she was alert,” said Salins.

But this was not the only blow. Two followers have been reported. One with a magnitude of 2.8 and the other with a magnitude of 2.6.
