BNPB distributes stimulus fund to 647 families affected by the earthquake

As directed by President Joko Widodo, the activated funds should be used to build houses

Jakarta (Antara) – The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has distributed stimulus funds to 647 families whose homes were damaged in the earthquake in Ngrak village, Cianjur District, West Java Province.

The government has offered stimulus funds of 15 million rupees to families whose houses sustained minor damage, 30 million rupees to homes with moderate damage, and 60 million rupees to severely damaged homes.

“As directed by President Joko Widodo, the revitalized funds should be used for the construction of houses,” said BNPB Chief Lieutenant General Suharyanto while symbolically handing over aid to the residents of Nagrak village as quoted from Friday’s statement.

He noted that the house construction work should be carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

Since the Cianjur area is prone to earthquakes, residents are advised to build earthquake-resistant homes.

He pointed out that “the construction of the house must be in line with the guide of the Ministry of Earthquake Protection.”

In addition, residents whose homes are severely damaged beyond repair and located at the fault line of the earthquake will be relocated to the Chilako sub-district. The area of ​​land to be transferred will be 2.5 hectares, capable of accommodating 200 housing units.

Homes in the relocation area will be built using Simple Healthy Instant House (RISHA) technology designed to be earthquake resistant.

According to data from the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Undersecretary of the BNPB, the earthquake damaged 647 homes in Najrak village.

The revitalized funds were distributed to the residents whose houses were damaged in the earthquake in the village in stages through Mandiri Bank.

The earthquake that shook Cianjur district on November 21, 2022 killed 321 people, severely damaged 25,186 homes, moderately damaged 12,496 homes, and caused minor damage to 20,367 homes, according to government data.
