A woman said she was “feeling traumatized” after a crane hit nearby homes in Bo East London.

The 20-meter crane collapsed onto a block of apartments under development and collided with two stepped houses in Compton Close at around 2.40 pm on Wednesday afternoon.

A dead woman was found at the scene, while two women were taken to hospital with head injuries, while the London ambulance service treated two other women at the site.

A woman, who did not want to be named, told the Palestinian Authority News Agency that her family was fortunate to have survived.

She said her house was next to the house that felt the full impact of the accident, and said the crash looked “like an earthquake.”

The woman said, “There were only rubble and things in the hallway. There was smoke, spots, and swaying. My mother was shouting for me because I thought it hit me.

She was screaming. I was screaming again. Then I realized that my brother is in the basement and I need to grab everything I can and go. “

The witness added: “It looked to me like an earthquake or almost the stone that someone hit in our house.

“We are all very fortunate to be alive – that’s all I can really say.

“How can people go back home and not feel shocked? I can feel it all over my body now. I feel shocked.”

Firefighters rushed to Gail Street and carried out a “complex rescue operation” to free the trapped people.

“We treated four people at the scene. We treated two of these patients with head injuries and took them to the hospital and we evaluated the other patients at the scene,” said an ambulance spokesman in London.

22-year-old student Anthony Small, who lives near the construction site on Devons Road, told Evening Standard newspaper that he believed an “earthquake” was occurring.

“The whole building was shivering and there was a loud metallic loud sound. I didn’t know how it would fall so I was preparing for the effect.

“The sound was very loud when the building hit and you could hear all the broken tiles and rubble. The whole building site was screaming and swearing. It was scary.”

“It was a terrible sound of metal screaming and then it crashed,” said Lucas Walgra, who lives opposite the construction site.

“I never thought something like this would happen. There should be an investigation.”

The Mayor of London praised the woman who died on the accident site on Twitter.

He said: “This is a tragedy. I extend my sincere condolences to the family of the victim who died during this accident in Bo today.

“I sincerely hope that the four infected people will fully recover.”

The crane that collapsed was used by the Swan Housing Association and NU living.
