Hollister, Calif. (KRON) — The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported an initial magnitude 3.2 earthquake Saturday night in the Pinnacles area. The earthquake occurred around 10:19 pm

The earthquake coordinates provided by the USGS say the quake occurred 25 miles south of Hollister and 35 miles south of Gilroy.

The depth of the quake was reported at 8.4 km, according to the USGS. That’s approximately 5.21 miles.

Reporting of the second earthquake

About 30 minutes after the first quake, the USGS reported another quake in Pinnacles at 10:49 p.m. This quake was a 4.0, with the epicenter located about 5 miles from the previous quake.

The depth of the second quake was reported at 4.5 kilometers, or 2.79 miles.

Earlier today, the USGS also reported a 3.2 earthquake in Allendale, a census-designated place in Solano County. Allendale is about 10 miles north of Vacaville.
